To Andy/MBS Dev Lead:
We have been in a alpha/beta with the service now for about 2 months. While we feel this is probably one of the best File Backup solutions it is missing some Management level features which could EASILY allow companies or Helpdesks the ability to purchase.
Usecase: Example
We have 10 customers, each customer has 5 offices, each office has 5 pc's and 1 server:
Here is what is missing from our perspective:
1) Email Options:
Emails for failures to US the IT provider and NOT the user/customer
(The work around today is we have 1 master account, all licenses assigned to this account, which means EVERY customer who opens the application on there desktop can see all PC's in this account - NOT GOOD)
2) Customers Setup for Billing/Invoicing
When we deploy a NEW Customer, and there 5 offices, It is ok for us to use ONE account - But we need the billing information to Roll-up bassed on the Customer or the assigned Email address (aka Account name)
These two changes could allow us to purchase more licenses.
Do not get us wrong, We think this product is much better than Mozy's/Carbonite and offers alot of promise.

Hi,
we are trying to schedule #1 for the coming release. If #2 is solved do you still thing #2 is necessary as you will be able to use a separate user account for each customer?
Thanks Andy

Andy,
Because there is a problem with the "Reporting" already we are truly talking about 2 different features.
#1 - The email reporting today does not work so that is one issue.
If Email Reporting was working, it needs to NOT route to the "user" but to the OWNER of the Master Account - i.e. Helpdesk or whomever we assign.
Why - Because users do not need ERROR reports, We do (the helpdesk) so we can Fix them automatically
#2 - Billing
If the OWNER of your MBS service, has 1000 customers and each customer has a Unique ID, then all deployments (PC's installed with your Backup Service) tied to a customer should roll-up underneath.
Today - Your system would work however the EMAIL problem was your work around for us. Now we have no idea WHO is using what amount of storage.
So one would fix the other in essence but both need to be clearly solved.
