NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – December 16, 2015:
CloudBerry Lab™
, a vendor of backup and
management solutions for public cloud storage services, today detailed how ITX Corp., a Rochester, NY-
based software product and service provider, has been able to reduce costs and increase reliability of its
backup as a service (BaaS) offering with CloudBerry.
ITX is a global company, headquartered in Rochester, NY. They provide a range of software product
solutions to a variety of small to enterprise level clients. ITX prides itself on providing a full lifecycle
solution to clients from the strategy of their product, to the design and development and into production.
Clients also rely on ITX to be active caretakers of their systems so that they can focus on their own
customers, instead of worrying about their infrastructure. ITX takes on the challenge of providing truly
comprehensive support to clients, including proactive, reactive, and production management support
services.
As their business has grown, however, ITX discovered that the platform it was using to provide backup as
a service to its clients was not able to scale. The cost of maintaining online or near line backups was
growing over time, as was the volume of errors on the local systems which, as a result, increased the risk
of failed backups. The administrative and capital costs required to maintain a high integrity backup
system for ITX’ clients were far higher than anticipated.
CloudBerry was able to provide a cloud-based backup solution that addressed both issues. First, ITX
appreciated that CloudBerry is agnostic about which storage provider a customer wants to use on the
back-end. ITX chose AWS S3 and Glacier as its two cloud storage targets. Second, ITX liked the fact that
CloudBerry’s architecture allows ITX to act as a “reseller” to its clients so that ITX could manage
customers’ backups for them, but still give them transparency to their own backups if they so desired.
“CloudBerry has brought the reliability of our backup infrastructure to an entirely different level,” said
Jonathan Coupal, CTO at ITX. “Along with its ease of use and simple, but powerful management tools,
CloudBerry has enabled us to significantly increase our customers’ trust in the services that we provide to
them.”
“CloudBerry brings the power of the cloud to SMBs and those who serve them,” said CloudBerry Lab
CTO Alexey Serkov. “With CloudBerry, service providers gain a rock-solid, easy to manage platform that
enables them to provide a highly reliable backup-as-a-service offering to their SMB customers.”
