CloudBerry Lab™ Announces the Release of Hybrid Backup in CloudBerry Backup 5.6

Hybrid Backup Plus Encryption and Compression Support for Amazon Cloud Drive and Google Drive

Aliso Viejo, CA – May 16, 2017 – The team at CloudBerry Lab™ is excited to announce the release of their flagship backup product, CloudBerry Backup 5.6. The update includes a number of highly requested features that enable users to deploy backup strategies in full compliance with industry best practices. CloudBerry Backup 5.6 users can now leverage popular cloud storage services such as Amazon Cloud Drive and Google Drive for secure and efficient backup storage with enhanced backup automation and performance.

CloudBerry Backup 5.6 now offers a new, hybrid backup feature. “It is an industry best practice to perform local and cloud backups of the same files, but traditional implementations may put an extra workload on the system being backed up,” says Alexey Serkov, CTO, CloudBerry Lab. Version 5.6 Hybrid Backup combines both local and cloud backups into one backup plan that reduces the backup workload and simplifies configuration and ongoing management. Hybrid backup provides the security of backing up to the cloud while allowing users to keep the same data set on site to quickly restore over a local area network. The Hybrid Backup feature is described in more detail in the video at https://youtu.be/1dU9Z-c-Blg.

"No matter which cloud storage service is chosen," says Serkov, "using CloudBerry Backup 5.6 with its new hybrid backup feature improves backup speed, reduces encryption and compression overhead, and reduces restore times, all while providing an added protective layer in a disaster recovery strategy.”

CloudBerry Backup 5.6 includes backup encryption and compression support for Amazon Cloud Drive and Google Drive; two very popular and cost-effective storage solutions. CloudBerry customers can more efficiently leverage these affordable cloud storage services for secure offsite backup storage.

Other enhancements and features in CloudBerry Backup 5.6 include:

  • Chain backups for better backup job execution ordering
  • Support for the Minio distributed, object storage server
  • Block-level backup for Backblaze B2 for more efficient backup execution

All the new features of CloudBerry Backup 5.6 are reviewed in the video at https://youtu.be/JTYA6ECtQo8.
