How to Use CloudBerry Backup With Reduced Redundancy Storage

CloudBerry S3 Backup is a powerful Windows backup and restore that automate backup and restore processes to Amazon S3 cloud storage.

In the version 1.5 we added the ability to take advantage of Reduced Redundancy Storage option. This storage options allows for cheaper storage in exchange for reduced reliability (99.99%). Pricing for Amazon S3 Reduced Redundancy Storage starts at only $0.10 per gigabyte per month and decreases as you store more data. According to Amazon if you store 10 000 objects on your Amazon S3 bucket you may expect to lose 1 object per year. For many practical purposes this reliability level is more than sufficient

You can enable Reduced Redundancy Storage option for the account, go to Files | Amazon S3 accounts. You can create a new account or modify your existing account details. Enable an appropriate checkbox as shown on the screen below:

The next time backup plan will run the storage attribute for the objects will be updated and you will take advantage of RRS pricing moving forward.

If you want to find out how CloudBerry Explorer supports RRS check out our previous blog post here.

Note: this post applies to CloudBerry Backup 1.5 and later.
